Karen Asher is a native plant specialist and former president of the Rhode Island Wild Plant Society. She holds a certificate in native plant studies with a focus on field botany from the Native Plant Trust and she volunteers in its plant conservation program assessing the status of rare species in Rhode Island. She has published numerous articles on native plants. She is also a Master Gardener and has presented today's program and other programs on Gardening with RI Native Plants at garden clubs, land trusts and libraries across the state. She enjoys working in her own garden in West Kingston.
The URI Master Gardener Public Presentation Program is a volunteer service of the URI Master Gardener Program (URIMGP), URI Cooperative Extension. Trained volunteers present workshops on a variety of topics related to environmentally-sound horticulture. In 2020, a select number of URI Master Gardener volunteer speakers are available for online webinar classes hosted by partner organizations.
