Supreme Court Orders Independent Probe and Forms SIT in Tirupati Laddu Controversy Case
The Supreme Court bench, led by Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan, has ordered an independent investigation into the Tirupati Laddu controversy. On October 4, the court formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in response to petitions regarding allegations of animal fat being used in the prasadam at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh. Justice Gavai emphasized the need to respect the feelings of millions of devotees and stressed the importance of a fair investigation to prevent politicization of the issue. The SIT will consist of two members from the Central Bureau of Investigation, two from the state government, and one from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. The court will monitor the investigation's progress while keeping the case pending.
