The fine-dining restaurant Re-naa is Stavanger's top restaurant. It was awarded one Michelin star in 2016, and finally received its much-deserved second star in 2020 after moving to a new space inside the Eilert Smith Hotel. We rank this New Nordic tasting menu among the top three dining experiences in Norway. Chef Sven Erik Renaa and his wife Torill have enriched the food scene in Stavanger for a decade now with their produce-driven menus, not only at their world-class restaurant Re-naa, but also at their more casual spots like Renaa:Matbaren, Renaa Xpress, the wine bar Lou Lou, and the soon-to-open Sirkus Renaa.
In this video, we visit the farmer Sigurd Strand Pedersen at Klostergarden (an extension of his farm Gyda Gård), a local farm in Stavanger that supplies ingredients like Jerusalem artichokes and potatoes to BAMA Storkjøkken who then delivers them to restaurants like Re-naa. A big part of Re-naa’s success is due to the fact that they use local, sustainable produce. Watch the ingredients go literally from the farm to the table in this video.
