This exercise also gives the message that the Pakistan Navy is an effective naval force. Just as it has the ability to tackle non-traditional threats for maritime security, it is also fully ready to deal with more traditional, conventional threats.”

STORYLINE:
Anti-piracy and RDC firing demonstrations were staged in the Arabian Sea by Pakistan’s and other countries’ naval forces on Monday as part of Aman 23 exercises.
“This exercise is not aimed against any particular country. It gives a message of peace,” said Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami, Commander of the Pakistan Fleet.
“This exercise also gives the message that Pakistan Navy is an effective naval force. Just as it has the ability to tackle non-traditional threats for maritime security, it is also fully ready to deal with more traditional, conventional threats,” he added.
More than 50 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Australia are participating in the exercises which will continue on February 14.
