Rio+20 saw many commitments from various countries to combat deforestation and forest degradation as one of the major driver of Climate Change we face today. The Bonn Challenge's timeline corresponds with Rwanda's Vision 2020 and the country committed to restore 2 million hectares of forests by this period.
Currently, 18 million hectares have been committed which amounts to only around 10% of the 150 million hectares initially challenged!
