Well folks, something new here for the 2025 trout season! No more pedaling the 10-Speed!! I picked up an E-bike for Christmas. Here is my first take on the Heybike Mars 2.0 1000w folding E-bike. I will continue to review this bike throughout the season. I am excited that this will be easier on my aging body but also expand some trout fishing options along the way.

My first impressions include: bike is fast (32mph), quiet, has the needed torque for driftless terrain, is comfortable, and is very stable. The Mars 2.0 has front suspension and rigid rear axle. The seat post has about a 1” shock absorber that does handle potholes and road surfaces well. It rolls on soft 4” wide fat tires mounted to 20” rims.
The bike folds to a size that would probably fit in my trunk or in my back seat. However, I did a bit of custom work on a hitch package shelf I had in the garage which is going to work very well. The bike can be easily loaded, unload and secured.
The rear brake needs to be bled, but otherwise I give a big thumbs up so far!!!
2025 opener looks to be cloaked in the cold of winter. When winter fishing, I have learned a few things matter. 1. Outdoor temp needs to be 26F or up. 2. At 20F or below the average spin fishing reel will freeze up like an ice cube in about 5 minutes. 3. Water temps need to over 36F and rising. 4. 9mil nitrile gloves will keep your fingers out of wind chill while allowing excellent dexterity. And last, 5. Target the two-hour or three-hour period of peak daily temperature if you want to have a chance at catching and releasing any trout.
Looking forward to the 2025 season, thanks for watching and happy fishing!!!!
