DAPOL CHURCHWARD CLASS 63XX MOGUL. SOUND BY MR SOUNDGUY.
Another one of Keiths’ customers engines, the latest Dapol GWR Mogul, which has received very good reviews in the model railway press, varying reviews here on YouTube & the usual opinions in the pundit forums. Thanks very much Robin for letting us film these.
This engine is very different. Taking it out of the box you immediately sense a truly nostalgic “Feel” about it and putting it on the track that feel becomes virtual reality. You are back on the Great Western. Performance is very good – 8 mk1 coaches up a 1 in 100 gradient with ease. Yes, of course there are the usual imperfections but quite honestly this engine is good enough for both Keith and I to give it our accolade of ‘Locomotive of the year 2020’. See what you think.
Decoder is a Zimo MX658n18 installed in the smokebox together with a 15x10mm sugarcube speaker drive unit in the Dapol speaker enclosure. A second speaker is installed in the tender, this being a Real Exclusive 40x20x7mm ‘Boombox’.
