An electric double decker bus caught fire in south London on Thursday, January 11, with residents reporting a loud bang and thick smoke.
Locals told City AM that they heard a terrifying “loud bang,” and saw thick smoke coming from the bus.
Merton Police issued a statement advising drivers to “avoid the area of Wimbledon Hill Road this morning."
Footage showed a smouldering bus in the distance as emergency crews cordoned the Wimbledon Hill Road.
