Victorian Senator James Paterson has reaffirmed the government does not support a military resolution to the Cross-Straits tension over Taiwan.
It comes after Defence Minister Peter Dutton told The Australian it was “inconceivable” Australia would not support a US-led action in Taiwan.
Mr Paterson defended Mr Dutton's remarks as honest and appropriate.
"He's the Defence Minister, he's asked a question about, he answered it directly and honestly as I think is appropriate," Mr Paterson told Sky News Australia.
