Electrical hydrogeology subsurface imaging technology (Aestus GeoTrax Survey™) was designed specifically to be able to perform ultra-high resolution site characterization of environmentally impacted sites, and to develop robust and accurate conceptual site models (CSMs) and facilitate successful remediation in less time and lower cost via Aestus GeoTrax CSM+™ process. This approach has been used to detect and characterize vertical geologic features and migration pathways in any geology and without a cost surcharge for imaging through bedrock.
This webinar will discuss several bedrock site case studies involving NAPL-related impacts (fuels and chlorinated solvents) where conventional site characterization work via untargeted borings and wells was performed for a period of approximately 20 years. Aestus’ 5-step GeoTrax CSM+ process was employed to obtain continuous electrical hydrogeology image datasets and facilitate targeted confirmation drilling/sampling to rapidly verify vertical flow features with significantly high permeability and confirm lateral and vertical flowpaths for impacted groundwater into and through the bedrock. Data suggest that these flow paths are virtually impossible to understand using only 1D vertical drilling data obtained without the benefit of targeting.
