Hi all,
just a quick update, after building from scratch 5 models from Stuart models, ie: Stuart lathe, Stuart shaping machine, Stuart pillar drill, and 2 steam engines with much delight,
I decided to go a little larger this time and buy a complete casting set, boiler kit and a full set of drawings from reeves 2000, total cost just over £2,400.
Item was received just before Christmas, i was well pleased at first having a look through the drawings and castings, and then noticed i had a shortfall in my order
Items being the rear hub outers LEFT & RIGHT,rear inner hub LEFT HAND, rear inner hub RIGHT HAND, rear hub CENTRES
Decided to contact reeves and notify them of my shortfall,
Reeves were totally uninterested of the problem, no interest in replacing the shortfall of the order, and basically it was my fault for not notifying them in 3 days!!
With the Christmas holiday and New Year and weekends, they decided to say that 18 days to contact them was unacceptable, and should have contacted them within 3 days, “i get the get out clause” bit.
Was told that the items were there and i have received them, nothing short of being told I was a liar and a thief
I’m not bitter, just annoyed that they were arrogant & rude, and not willing to help,
I kindly asked if they would help, knowing that i still have an awful lot of bar stock, fixings, and materials to order, still not willing to help
I have put my shortfall down as a loss, lesson learnt; move on, all my extras i need to buy will now be purchased elsewhere,
So anyone deciding to purchase from them, i truly recommend that you check your items within 3 days, personally i would take your money shop elsewhere and go to a decent company that you can have a piece of mind
As for the build itself, I’m looking forward to starting in approx 4 weeks
Not sure how long this will take i would guess 2-3 years, but i shall video each stage as i go through the build
