We used the brilliant CJI 2018 as our muse, so do watch out over the next couple of weeks as we roll out the full versions of the interviews we shot. This adds extra content to our feeds and value for you if you want to hear what some high powered execs have to say. Social media for #bizavgeeks!
Now's the time to buy if you have a few million dollars of spare change rattling around your pockets. Brian Proctor, President & CEO @mentegroup predicts business aircraft prices will begin to increase in 3Q17. So which ones are selling today? “All of them,” he said. “Now is THE best time to buy an aircraft.”(before price hike around Q3)
So cash in your Bitcoin. Blockchain is the inevitable future of aircraft transactions reckoned @AICtitle Holly Healey. She said: "[It is] the highest level of security available today." Ever at the forefront of new technology, @PrivateFly sold its first Bitcoin flight in 2014.
Blockchain is the most secure way of transacting anything as security becomes a bigger headache for everyone everywhere. "If you attempt to log in with just two of the most common passwords used, you have a 60% of gaining access to and compromising an aircraft's internet network" cautioned Michael Skou Christensen of @SatcomDirect. Meanwhile Nick Allan of security firm @control_risks pointed out that one of the of top five threats today is Governments’ lack of understanding of social media.
We of course, love social media. In addition to our notes the Twitter feed (#cjilive), gave us some valuable insights. The rolling survey on the day showed that 90% of delegates think that new business models such as @GlobeAir @SynergyAviation and @SurfAir are attracting new fliers to the business jet market. Additionally 66% of delegates believe that aircraft financing will generate the highest rate of returns in the business aviation market.
European Business Aviation COO Robert Balthus thinks those in power should know this. He said :"Governments, regulators and local communities need to be empowered to understand the value of #bizav ...which serves as an economic connector across #Europe and its #region."
Finding pilots is a pressing issue. Take note @cae_inc! Maintaining your asset is key, too, and accurate and complete maintenance records are the best way to preserve an aircraft's value" said Bob Wilke during the "Getting older gracefully," panel. "Programs & rates should reflect the experience & care of operators," agreed @prattandwhitney @rollsroyce and @JSSI."
All delegates spoke to the value of transparency and honesty. @guardianjet's Don Dwyer insisted that buyers should have the information they need. Safety is always the gold standard. "Customer service is vital, but safety comes first for off-shore registries," explained the Registry of Aruba's Alexandria Colindres.
Overall the mood was upbeat with growth predicted and large aircraft dominating the market by 2026 with 63% of marketshare, according to JetCraft's Chad Anderson.
This week's video shows some soundbites. When you film your event, we suggest capturing all of the sessions. (They are great to have and you can package them as an add value for your clients, or as a standalone product). It can also be helpful to capture a snapshot of the day to put out as a short report (like this one) with sound bites from some of the thought leaders present, plus shots of what else was happening all around to give people a flavour of the day. Then of course you have plenty of material for future social media posts with interviews and shots.
That's all for this week. Next week we'll show a couple of the longer interviews and how to treat them. So you get double value for your time - interesting insights and a demonstration of how to liven up a video interview. Have a great week and those of you returning to colder climes from Singapore - wrap up warm :D
Best wishes,
Liz

PPS - our client videos actually generate leads that result in sales. One we did for PrivateFly about the Pilatus PC-12 helped sell one of the $2.1m turboprops, and also helps sell charter for them. What would that kind of marketing mean for your business' bottom line?
