I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did when we sailed on Waverley, the world’s last seagoing Paddle Steamer. Amazing 😍
We sailed with her for the first time on Sunday 6 August. After lots of summer rain in Scotland, the sun shone for us making the sailing even more spectacular!
She sailed from the Glasgow Science Centre, stopped off at Largs and then Ayr Harbour where we boarded with almost 500 other passengers. My video clips only show when she arrived in Ayr to pick us up though.
Sailing along the stunning Ayrshire coastline we stopped at beautiful Girvan to pick up more passengers, then it was onward to the epic Ailsa Craig. I was excited!
The uninhabited island Ailsa Craig is a volcanic plug, bird sanctuary and the granite source for Kays of Scotland who have been making curling stones since 1851. Olympic standard ones at that!
I’ve looked across the Firth of Clyde to Ailsa Craig many times and now I was seeing how beautiful it was close up. The columnar rock formations that we don’t see from the Ayrshire coast were so amazing, and also the abundance of birds.
It was an epic journey, creating more wonderful memories to treasure forever 💙
