Felicia immigrates first to Israel, and in 1962 she comes to Canada, where she becomes a citizen and starts a new life.
Felicia Carmelly was born in Vatra Dornei, Romania, on September 25, 1931. In 1941, Felicia and her family were transported to Transnistria, Romania where they lived under cruel and brutal conditions for three years. After surviving such tragidies, they returned to their home town. In 1959, Felicia and her family moved to Israel and later to Canada where Felicia earned her master’s degree in social work, founded Toronto’s Transnistria Survivors’ Association, and published the anthology Shattered! 50 Years of Silence: History and Voices of the Tragedy in Romania and Transnistria in 1997. Felicia now lives in Toronto.
