This Sculptform webinar was livestreamed on 26 August 2021. Discussing the history of Placemaking and its role in the development of our vibrant city life. Featuring expert opinions on what we can learn from the past and what a new story for Melbourne will look like post-pandemic.

In this presentation we discuss reconnecting People to Place and explore the role of enlightened development and culture. We take a brief look at the role of the city pre-pandemic, a summary of what is emerging, and what this could mean for the change in the role of the city.

Presented by the architect, we look at the first stage of a major, two hectare urban regeneration project, Melbourne Quarter. The precinct brings together all the ingredients that make diverse, vibrant neighbourhoods including workplaces, city living, dining, shopping and urban open space. The commercial precinct of the $1.9B redevelopment comprises three towers linked with a unique Sky Park floating above a central square and a network of laneways.

Dr Dominique Hes

Dr Dominique Hes is an award-winning author, researcher and academic working in the areas of regenerative development, biophilia, urban greenery, sustainable development and fields of systems thinking, environmental issues, placemaking and project management. With degrees in science, engineering and a Phd in architecture, Dominique brings an interdisciplinary approach and governance experience to all of her work.

Anne Clisby

Associate Director, Denton Corker Marshall

Anne Clisby has over 20 years’ experience in leading design firms throughout Australia and internationally in Helsinki, where she studied at the UNESCO Aspro School for Art and Design and the Helsinki University of Technology.

Anne is a Green Star accredited professional and a key member of the Denton Corker Marshall Sustainability Team, a group which provides support to project teams throughout the design and construction process. The Sustainability Team, under Anne’s leadership, has contributed to several award-winning projects including, Manchester Civil Justice Centre, winner of 28 industry awards including Britain’s high-profile RIBA English Partnerships Sustainability Award.

Anne has lectured at several universities and sits on various advisory boards including the Victorian Liveability Think Tank, a group from the Victorian design and built environment sector selected to promote services and expertise in liveable and sustainable design.
