In this video, we explain about blood split motions in California DUI cases. When the police collect a blood sample from a DUI suspect, they send the sample to the crime lab for analysis. But they are required to retain a portion of the blood sample so that it can be independently tested by the DUI defense team. A "blood split motion" is a court order that this remaining sample be turned over to the defense for its own analysis.
