READ ALONG TO PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH AND TO LEARN THE MEANING OF IT DAWNED ON ME: So dawn in English is the time of day when sun is just beginning to rise, when you can just start to see the first rays of the sun in the air and the sun starts to peek over the horizon. Dawn is very, very early in the morning. But we have another phrase in English, it dawned on me, and this refers to when you suddenly realize what's wrong in a certain situation or you suddenly solve a problem after thinking about it for a while. So a good example would be a couple of years ago my van wouldn't start. So I would put the key and I would turn it and the van would go, werwerwerwerwa, werwerwerwerwa, and it wouldn't start. And then it dawned on me that I didn't have any gas in my van. So it was a moment where I realized all of the sudden what was wrong. It dawned on me.
