This is the first of a couple videos providing background for our recent article on nautical chart carriage requirements when all traditional paper charts (TC) will have been discontinued, which is December 31, 2024.
We review that on going plan and check its status with an example from the Delaware Bay using chart 12304, which was discontinued 8/23. We see how to get a copy of the Last Edition of the TPC for that chart and also how to compare it to the latest NCC edition which is updated daily. We note that most of the present NOAA print on demand outlets offer for sale the LE TCP or the updated NCC for all NOAA charts.
In Part 2 we look at how to make an NCC and some of the nuances among TCP, NCC, and ENC, especially the importance of knowing what has been updated.
