David has spent the last 10 years as a first responder to many of the world's largest natural disasters and wars. As Vice President of Operation Blessing International, he has traveled to over 50 countries and is currently based in Haiti. As a filmmaker, David has won numerous awards including a Special Jury Mention at the 2012 Tribeca fild festival as Co-Director of Baseball in the Time of Cholera. David's media from the front lines of disaster relief have regularly appeared on Reuters, the BBC and CNN. In 2012, David was named an "American of the Year" by Esquire magazine for his work in establishing Haiti's first baseball little league.
David is co-founder of RYOT, an activism brand featuring the RYOT Foundation; focused on humanitarian assistance, RYOT Film; producing media to highlight untold stories and the flagship, RYOT News; a breaking news platform allowing visitors to "Become the News".
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
