Dr. Cynthia Wang talked about our evolving understanding of ADEM and specific types of ADEM which impact therapies and outcomes. She shared early results from the APERTURE study at UTSW where a cohort of 37 children (average age of 5.5 years) were followed over time to study long term outcomes including cognition. ADEM is currently defined by clinical exam and imaging, but we are moving towards more specific diagnosis, MOGAD being one of the most common diagnoses of ADEM.
