Braiding leather is somewhat of a lost art, an American past-time, to really pass the time, for years upon years upon years. Whether it was used as a means for structural integrity when carrying goods, for animal harnesses, or for traditional dress on horses or donkeys, the work of braiding leather has been a symbol of beauty and class.
Yes, a normal strip of leather is nice, but nothing compares to a hand-braided leather product (especially once broken in). It carries a whole different level of richness with it. The grip and feel you get out of our braided leashes is like no other. You feel the grooves, the tightness in the grain, and the strength to which that leash can bear - all while providing a soft and supple feel in your hand. Trust us, your hand will fail before these leashes do.
In the video, we outline the unique differences between the slot braid and the deluxe full braid. A distinct characteristic of our slot braided leash is the likeness to braided hair, laid flat and pulled individually through slots. On the other hand, our deluxe braid, or twist braid, gets rolled over itself each layer into a beautifully braided core of thick leather.
Both braid techniques are done by hand at Ray Allen, and the strength, beauty, and durability of the product are why we continue the tradition of making them here in the USA.
