We’re releasing CCTV footage as officers appeal for information in connection with recent thefts from vans in the Derbyshire Dales.
Thirteen vans were targeted in Darley Dale, Matlock, Middleton by Wirksworth, Rowsley and Hackney between Saturday 7 March and Monday 9 March.
As part of our enquiries, officers have identified a man they would like to speak to, and what they think is a white Volvo car, they would like to trace.
Do you recognise the man, or think you may have noticed the vehicle? Did you notice any suspicious activity around the times of the incident?
We are also continuing to remind van owners to make sure their vehicles, valuables and tools are secure.
Inspector Daron Abbott, who is in charge of policing in the Derbyshire Dales, said: “I would like to thank everyone who has contacted us so far, and for the continued support from the community as we work to investigate and also try to prevent these thefts.
“There can be a major impact on victims whose businesses and livelihoods are affected by the cost and inconvenience of replacing tools and equipment, and I would ask anyone who may have any information on those responsible to get in touch.”
Insp Abbott added: “I would also reiterate the advice given earlier this week to motorists around making sure that vehicles are locked whenever they’re unattended, that tools and valuables are removed and that vehicles are parked in a well-lit and secure area overnight, covered by CCTV if possible.”
