China's commercial aerospace industry is starting to take off as more private start-up companies venture into the field.
One Space, a Chinese private rocket manufacturing company, is planning to launch China's first privately-built rocket in June. While the successful launch of the U.S. SpaceX falcon rocket in early February has inspired many start-ups in China, the founder of One Space also expressed his confidence about the development of this industry.
At only three years old, One Space has already been making inroads in the space industry, designing micro satellites and rockets. Shu said it's all about starting small but aiming high.
Currently at least seven private companies in China have ventured into the space race, despite the country's restrictions in the commercial space flight program. But investment in this industry is still far lower than that of some developed countries.
One Space itself only received about 80 million U.S. dollars in funding but Shu said it's the start of greater things and will hopefully see a widening market to Africa.
Shu said they are eager to enter African markets to improve people's lives there, and that he believes it will assist the Belt and Road initiative.
