Woman uses wheelie bin to reserve parking spot on busy street

A woman has told how her street gets so busy with parking that she uses her wheelie bin to reserve a space.

43-year-old Helen Barrell, from Bearwood in Smethwick, can't actually drive herself but uses wheelie bins to prevent other people from parking in the spot when she has contractors coming round.

She was inspired to tell her story by a previous BirminghamLive article which detailed how residents in Lozells had been using empty paint pots and bread trays to reserve parking spots on a busy street.
