Driving through Novi Zagreb (New Zagreb) - as its name suggests it is the newest part of the city of Zagreb. Its development begun in the early 1950s as a part of socialist urbanistic plans for the city of Zagreb. It has a distinct pre-planed socialist era look with lots of large residential blocks, parks and business buildings located along the main roads. River Sava divides Zagreb in two parts and Novi Zagreb lies south of the river's banks. Public transportation network and numerous bridges connect these two halves of Zagreb quite well. As Mount Medvednica largely prohibits the spread of the city to the north, Zagreb is growing most rapidly to the south, expanding the area of Novi Zagreb.
As a pre-planed development Novi Zagreb is very neatly divided into neighborhoods which we'll cover in this video in the following order:
