It's about time for me to change out the head on my snare drum, so I went through some of my old snare heads to do a comparison and find what I liked about each one. I used the Remo P77 head for a while this year, along with the Evans Power Center Reverse Dot and Remo Controlled Sound Reverse Dot, but was still missing something from my ideal snare sound. Starting with a generic one-ply coated head, the Evans G1, as a baseline, I have examples of each so that you can hear for yourself. Let me know which ones you liked best, and what snare heads you like to use!
