The BJP applauded the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the EWS quota on Monday and claimed it is a success for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in carrying out his "mission" to bring social justice to the nation's underprivileged. By a vote of 3:2, the Supreme Court confirmed the legality of the 103rd Amendment to the Constitution, which grants members of the economically weaker sections (EWS) 10% of the seats in educational institutions and government employment. CJI U.U. Lalit was one of the two judges who dissented.
The highest court ruled that the EWS quota regulation did not contradict the Constitution's fundamental principles.
B L Santhosh, the general secretary of the BJP, stated that the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of EWS reservation for unreserved portions. PM Narendra Modi deserves a lot of praise for the way he saw Gareeb Kalyan. A significant step forward for social fairness.
