Mount Rinjani is a 3,726 metre high active volcano on the island of Lombok in Indonesia. After living in Lombok for 6 months we thought it was time we tackled this horridly hard climb but didn't anticipate just how difficult it would be. We opted for the 3 days 2 nights climb to experience the incredible serenity of the crater lake, camping on the shore, fishing for lake fish and visiting the legendary Rinjani hot springs. The crater lake is the highest lake in Indonesia and sacred to the Sasak people of the island, the terrain to get there changes massively throughout our journey with the volcanic landscape throwing up lots of challenges along the way.
