This weekend, temperatures are projected to reach the mid 60s in Wasatch Front communities, and city teams are preparing for potential flooding.
The state's mountains are currently holding more than double the amount of snow water equivalent that Utah sees in a typical year. It's stoking fears of serious flooding if it melts too fast, a phenomenon last seen in 1983 with a snowpack smaller than the one in 2023.
But even with a slow melt, streams and rivers are expected to rise quickly with the added water during springtime snowmelt runoff.
