This niggun is traditionally sung by Chabad Chassidim on the 19th of Kislev - the 'New Year' of Chassidus. On this day in 1798 the Alter Rebbe, founder of Chabad, was freed from prison in czarist Russia where he had been held on charges that his religious teachings were treason against the czar.
This niggun is one of the less common niggunim that is sung to words. The words are from Tehillim (Psalms) chapter 55 and reflect King David's praise to the Creator for helping him vanquish his enemies.
