“Internal hemorrhage is more than just blood loss—it’s when bleeding occurs inside the body, often leading to the accumulation of blood within natural or newly formed cavities. In this video, we delve into the types of internal hemorrhage, such as hemothorax (hemorrhage in the pleural cavity, between the lungs and chest wall) and hemopericardium (bleeding into the pericardial space around the heart). Next, we discuss hemoperitoneum, which is the accumulation of blood in the peritoneal cavity, and hemarthrosis, or bleeding within a joint.
Moving to less commonly known types, we look at enterorrhagia (hemorrhage in the intestine), hemometra (blood collection within the uterus), metrorrhagia (abnormal uterine bleeding outside the menstrual cycle), hematocolpos (blood accumulation within the vagina), and hematosalpinx (blood in the fallopian tube or oviduct).
We also cover hematocele (a blood collection in the scrotal sac around the testes), hematomyelia (bleeding within the spinal cord), and apoplexy, or brain hemorrhage, a severe and potentially life-threatening condition.
