Kolkata Doctor Case: In the suo motu case regarding the alleged rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College, the Supreme Court has asked the CBI to submit a fresh status report by next Tuesday. The court, led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, criticized the Kolkata Police for a 14-hour delay in registering the FIR and requested key documents, including the PRB Form 54 and Form 5363, to be presented. Addressing the ongoing doctors' protests, the CJI instructed the West Bengal government to ensure the safety of doctors, installing CCTV cameras and creating restrooms. He urged doctors to resume work, stating no disciplinary action will be taken if they return by 5 PM tomorrow, but warned of consequences for continued absence. The court also ordered the removal of all photographs of the victim from social media.
