Hello guys,
In this video I go on a solo camping adventure in the French Vosges mountains, with the goal of building a hidden bushcraft cabin right in the heart of nature. The weather was constantly changing, with frequent rain adding an extra challenge to the experience. I encountered wildlife along the way and felt deeply connected to my surroundings. A nearby river provided a fresh water source, which I filtered easily with my portable filter bottle.
For food, I brought some delicious meals with me: duck confit, bulgur, and pre-prepared pancake batter, which helped keep me fueled during this cabin-building journey. The construction itself was tough—the ground was rocky, and digging for the foundation took a lot of effort. But with some clever tricks, I was able to create a strong base.
This place felt incredibly peaceful, and I hope others can find and enjoy this hidden retreat someday. If you’re into solo adventures, building cabins, or simply love the relaxing beauty of nature, join me as I share this bushcraft journey!
Some Q/A :
How did you preserve your food?
I used vacuum-sealed packs, and the rest of my food was dried or preserved, like confit. I often bring fermented foods like sauerkraut, canned sardines, or fresh vegetables. For meats, I usually go with vacuum-sealed packs, and I find eggs and dried meats are also easy to carry.
Which saw did you use?
Primarily the Boreal 21 and the Silky Gomboy.
How did you stay warm?
I wore merino wool base layers close to my skin to wick away sweat. Merino wool and natural cotton are my go-to materials for warmth and comfort in variable conditions.
Did you see any animals?
Yes, I spotted some deer, wild boars, and even a few foxes passing through.
What knife did you use?
I used a Reiff Knives F5 model.
Which boots did you wear?
I wore the Lowa Zephyr GTX Mid boots.
