삼성SDI, 스텔란티스와 미국 인디애나에 배터리 합작공장 설립
South Korean battery maker Samsung SDI, has unveiled plans to build a plant in the U.S. with Stellantis N.V.
The joint venture will build an electric vehicle battery plant in the city of Kokomo, Indiana, with construction to begin sometime this year.
The facility will supply battery modules for vehicles produced at Stellantis’ North American assembly plants.
The target for beginning operations is the first quarter of 2025, at an annual production capacity of 23 gigawatt hours...with an aim to increase to 33 gigawatt hours in the future.
The companies will initially invest a combined 2-point-5 billion U.S. dollars.
Stellantis said Tuesday that the new plant will create 1-thousand-4-hundred new jobs.
