(18 May 2018) Jordanian protesters gathered in downtown Amman after Friday noon prayers to demonstrate against the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem, and against the killing of Palestinian demonstrators in Gaza by Israeli soldiers.
Protesters chanted anti-Israel and anti-US slogans and called upon Arab leaders to take action.
Israeli soldiers killed at 59 Palestinians in clashes and protests along the Gaza/Israel border on May 14, the same day that the United States formally moved its embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.
US President Donald Trump's decision to recognise contested Jerusalem as Israel's capital, followed by relocating the US Embassy in Jerusalem, has caused outrage in the Arab world.
The protest was organised by the Muslim Brotherhood movement and other Islamic parties.
