Mercury‘s undeniable impact on music and fashion is still felt today. The Queen lead vocalist is recognized as one of the greatest artists in rock music history, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004.
Sotheby’s is paying tribute to Mercury’s outstanding legacy with an all-new exhibition titled ‘Freddie Mercury: A World of His Own.’ Opening this month, it will offer an insider look at Mercury’s public and private life, immersed in music and fashion history.
‘Freddie Mercury: A World of His Own’ will explore the rock star’s deep love for collection, ranging from musical instruments to personal paperwork, photographs, and more. The exhibition will give an exclusive look at Mercury’s on-stage wardrobe, handwritten ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ lyrics, and personally owned artwork by Salvador Dali.
Each of Sotheby’s 15 galleries will inspect different eras of Mercury’s life, replicating his home through revived bedroom, bar, and dining room displays.
