Got the first stripe on my blue belt! I've spent about 70 hours of training so far (yes, I keep track of my input) at blue belt. Personally, wasn't expecting a stripe until I nearing 100.
After he awarded the students their promotion this past Wednesday (5.11.2022), he shared three thoughts on his philosophy of promoting people.
One, consistency and regular attendance is a must. can't come one week and then take off two weeks, and then maybe another week on and then off another week - all while expecting to be promoted.
Two, camaraderie and teamwork is required. Just because you have the ability to smash the unskilled white belt doesn't mean you should. If anything, you should be helping them get to where you're at.
Three, in a family friendly version of what professor said, don't be a poopy butt. Knowing how you are off the mats is not difficult considering how a lot of folks to share stuff on social media. Good character is needed, ON and OFF the mats.
