I will be the first to admit that I do not enjoy dealing with ocular surface issues such as dry eye syndrome, blepharitis, MGD, epithelial basement membrane dystrophy (EMBD), and even trichiasis. But treating these conditions and optimizing the ocular surface can help improve cataract surgery outcomes. The pre-operative corneal measurements are used to calculate the IOL power for cataract surgery and even more importantly, the ocular surface is the first refractive structure of the eye due to the difference in refractive index of air versus water. This video summarizes some of the important aspects of the ocular surface and cataract surgery. And while I explain that, you can enjoy an unedited, complete cataract case.
