Areas surrounding the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza's Beit Lahia have come under fire, causing scenes of panic. Israel claims that the hospital built in Gaza using Indonesian funding sits atop a network of Hamas tunnels and is located near a launchpad for rocket attacks. Indonesia's foreign ministry has said in a statement that "the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza is a facility built by the Indonesian people entirely for humanitarian purposes and to serve the medical needs of the Palestinian people in Gaza." The Indonesian charity that operates the hospital, MER-C, has also denied the facility is used by Hamas. The war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has raged for more than a month, triggered by Hamas’s attack on Israel on 7 October.
