Using models, such as 10 X 10 grids, can help us understand how decimals, fractions, and percents are related. If the amount is less than 1 whole, we'll need one 10 X 10 grid. If the amount is greater than 1 whole, we'll need more than 1 grid. We model decimal to fraction and percent, decimal to mixed number and percent, and percent to decimal. We use given 10 X 10 grids to write the decimal, fraction, and percent equivalencies that they show.
