Six football officials were arrested and detained by Swiss police on Wednesday pending extradition at the request of US authorities after a raid at a luxury hotel in Zurich.
Video shot by The Associated Press showed law enforcement officers escorting at least one man out of a side-door exit of the lakeside Baur au Lac Hotel in downtown Zurich.
The case involves bribes "totalling more than 100 (m) million US dollars" linked to commercial deals dating back to the 1990s for football tournaments in the United States and Latin America, the Swiss Federal Office of Justice said in a statement.
It was unclear if the probe was linked to the 1994 World Cup hosted by the United States.
The officials are in Switzerland for the FIFA congress and presidential election, where Sepp Blatter is widely expected to win a fifth term at the helm of the governing body of world football.
Blatter was not among the men arrested, FIFA spokesman Walter de Gregorio told The Associated Press.
