Former Vice President Joe Biden challenged President Donald Trump's accusation that the Democratic nominee's health care plan would leave millions of Americans without insurance, during an exchange in the first presidential debate of 2020 on Sept. 29.
When Biden clarified that his plan would allow for private and public insurance options, Trump said, "That's not what you said, and that's not what your party is saying."
"My party is me. Right now, I am the Democratic Party. I am the Democratic Party right now. The platform of the Democratic Party is what I, in fact, approved of."
Biden and Trump are facing each other in Cleveland, Ohio, for the first of three debates before voting concludes in November. Despite meeting in person, the event will only include an audience of about 80 people, hosted by the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University.
