The population data from the Census is critical to determining the distribution of federal funds as well as determining political representation in states and local communities. Community Action can assist in outreach and education for a fair and accurate census. Steven Romalewski of the City University of New York offers one strategy to engage through the use of the CUNY developed “Mapping Hard to Count Communities” tool to understand and target those communities that are especially hard to count in the Census and the ability to share this data with elected officials.
