The canon M3 doesn't have the ability to take time lapses or to use an external intervalometer, however that problem is now solved using one simple easy to learn app called cascable. This app will connect to your camera through wifi and will allow you to adjust settings like shutter speed, aperture and also the focus of your shot, from here you can then set up a time-lapse and just start the app and your camera will do the rest. This app will only have these features (Time-lapse) if you purchase the pro version, however, it is definitely worth the purchase if you are desperate to shoot time lapses as it is the only current reliable method.
