The department of Post via a circular announced that it has introduced many charges on Savings account ATM cards which will come into effect from 1st October'2021 to 30th September'2022. Further the department has put a cap on the number of financial and non financial transaction one can carry out at ATM's in a month.

From 1st October'2021 Post Office ATM/Debit Card annual maintenance charge will be ₹125/- plus GST. Post Office will also charge for SMS alert sent to its Debit card customers which will be ₹12/- for sending SMS alert to its debit card holders per annum. In case a customer loses his/her ATM card then Post Office will charge ₹300/- plus GST for providing a replaced ATM card and will charge ₹50/- plus GST for regeneration of duplicate ATM pin.

The department of Post has also limited the number of free financial transactions that can be done at ATM machines. Now as per the new rules every month 5 free transactions are allowed at ATM machines and after 5 free transactions ₹10/- plus GST will be charged for each financial transaction and ₹5/- plus GST will be charged for each non financial transaction. In case of other bank ATM's 3 free transaction per month in metro cities and 5 free monthly transaction in non metro cities are allowed and after that ₹20 plus GST for every financial transaction and ₹8 for every non financial transaction will be charged by Post Office every month from the customer. In case a transaction fails due to insufficient balance then from now on Post Office will charge ₹20 plus GST for every failed transaction.
