Livorno is a regular port of call for cruise ships, giving passengers access to day trips to Florence, Lucca and Pisa. If you've been to Florence before, Lucca is a great and much less crowded alternative. On this trip, Cathy took the train there from Livorno station (a 15 minute taxi ride from the port). As the train stops at Pisa en route to Lucca its easy enough to combine both cities in one day.
