Alternative title: The Inaugural Run of the Old Colony & Newport Railway’s Passenger Train on Aquidneck Island in Portsmouth, Rhode Island
On October 6, 2024, the Old Colony and Newport Railway/Newport and Narragansett Bay Railroad/Grand Bellevue Dining Rail Experience on Aquidneck Island in Rhode Island, returned regular trains to service for the first time since 2021. Two trains powered the trip, the railroad’s GE-45 Tonner they recently purchased from Springfield, MA, and BC-15, one of the Budd RDC units they have besides BC-30, which the two of them were purchased by the railroad in 2006 from the Wilton Scenic Railroad, which had permanently closed after the passing of their owner.
