Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil will review the law and order situation in the state in a meeting with the Director-General of Police and senior IPS officers in Mumbai on Tuesday, days after MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s massive rally in Aurangabad.
In his speech at the rally, Thackeray had reiterated his ultimatum to the state government demanding the removal of loudspeakers from mosques, or he would play Hanuman Chalisa to drown out the sound of azaan.
The home minister will seek reports from Aurangabad Police regarding any rules flouted during the MNS rally and initiate action, if necessary, said police sources. Reports from different local branches will be sent to the Maharashtra home ministry today.
Aurangabad's Special Branch of Police Commissioner's Office sent a daily report to the SID. That daily report has been forwarded to the DGP. The primary report was analysed by senior police officials and will be reviewed in today's meeting with Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil.
