The broad gauge Tocumwal freight service operated by QUBE (previously known as POTA) has just passed through Wandong in country Victoria, and now the lusty chant of four veteran EMD locomotives echos through the hillside as they tackle a grade leading to East Kilmore.
The leading two locomotives are members of the B class. B80 & B76 both entered service with the Victorian Railways in 1953 and some sixty years later these unique locomotives with their dual streamlined cabs are still going strong with these two examples now being owned by Chicago Freight Car Leasing Australia (CFCLA) who have leased them to Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) for infrastructure works, who in turn lease them to other operators when MTM are not using them.
The 3rd and 4th locomotives are T413 which entered service with the Fyansford Cement Works Railway in 1956, and T364 which entered service with the Victoria Railways in 1962. Both T class locomotives are now owned by Preservation groups. .
