The "Sportback" designation hints at a slightly coupe-like design towards the rear, while the "S line" is Audi's top trim level, heavily loaded with luxurious features including embossed leather sports seats. Audi's naming convention of "40" indicates that this model falls just below the middle in their lineup's power range, which spans from 30 to 70.
This model is also described as Audi's entry model plug-in hybrid, replacing the previous A3 e-tron. The 2023 Audi A3 40 TFSI-e is no longer branded as an e-tron since Audi has reserved this moniker for its all-electric vehicles.
